teccon
We are undecided as to whether we want a male or female Cairn puppy. We have had 2 wonderful, loving, happy females, but have been told that males are more loving, and tend to be better lap dogs. Are there any opinions to share? toomanypaws
We currently have 3 females. The oldest is 3 and prefers to lay on the couch next to you. The 8 mth old is forever jumping up to me to be held and is very affectionate and loves sitting on my lap. The baby is only 10 wks old and right now sleeps alot in our laps but I think it's too early to tell if she'll remain a lap dog. Our first cairn years ago was a male, but he preferred the outdoors and just wanted to run and play. He became very agressive towards my male lab and aussie. The aussie just shook him off but I was afraid the lab might strike back as the attacks go worse. I was always having to let them in the yard separately and even then the cairn would bark and growl constantly. I was very fortunate to find him a new home and I continue to keep in touch w/ the new owner. A male cairn might have worked out for us if we didn't already have 2 large male dogs. These little dogs have no fear and will go up against a dog 5 X's their size (at least mine did). We chose to go female and they do fine w/ the males. All of our dogs are spayed/neutered except for the 10 wk old who will get spayed around 6 mths. I think it's a personal preference as to male or female. <img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/1003/maiwag/terriersiggy.jpg" border="0" class="linked-sig-image" /> Beth, mom to Ninja (5), Hannah (7), Abbey (7 1/2), Kiara (10)
