Guest Guest
Our cairn terrier has always been highstrung, we recently got a cat 3 months ago and they got along fine (a little tension, but okay) / however now the cairn (5 years) is peeing on the floor when we're at home, we know it isn;t a physical problem because she can hold her pee for a long time while we're at work. She is constantly doing it and we live in an apartment so this can't continue and we don't want to get rid of the dog. Any ideas on why she does this and how we can solve this problem? Logansmom
Sibling rivalry. It may sound silly but what about some quality one on one with the big boy. He may see kitty as such an intrusion and feel your agitation and it is a never ending circle. When we got our puppy a month or so ago we made sure we gave the nine year old the same one on one time that she usually had. Daddy takes her for a long walk while he smokes the cigars. That's there time together. That way I could focus on the baby. Of course there was major tension but they are best friends now and check on one another when something isn't right. Good luck. By the way, did the kitty swipe at him and scare him to death? That may be another cause.
Guest posting as: Orlando
Have you ruled out the possibility of a urinary tract infection?
Guest hauser158@msn.com
I realize your dog is only five, but have you had him or her checked for bladder stones. We had that problem with out Maltese. Had to have surgery for removal of stones and no further problems. Pat H.
