texasx96
Jake started obedience training at about 8 weeks. He does extremely well on everything but.... When it comes to large dogs he is really aggressive. I think it's because he hasn't been socializing as much since I moved... he didn't always have this problem. Anyway, anyone have any ideas on steering him away from this behavior? Small dogs aren't a problem, but he really hates anything larger than him. bradl
Obedience class is an ideal place to work on dog-dog problems. Be sure your instructor knows you want to work on this. Don't allow Jake to look at other dogs. Keep him active and engaged with you in the presence of other dogs. Whenever you are approaching another dog, or another dog is approaching you, work hard to get and keep Jake's attention on YOU - with lots of rewards, etc. for attention given to you. It takes a lot of effort to be more interesting and important than another dog. CAIRNTALK: Questions?
