anal gland

Recommended Posts

My little one year old has a 'bump' right near his anus. I discovered it cause he was 'scootin' across the carpet last night. I decided I better take a peek since our older girl does this when she has poo-poo stuck!

I am assuming this is an impacted anal gland?? Our older girl has never had one so I am not sure if I am correct?

I made an appointment with the groomer on Thursday. Is that too long too wait? (2 days)?

Thanks!

A couple years ago Winnie came in after doing "business" and her backside was covered in blood! We had no prior indication that she was having a problem in that area but it was an impacted anal gland that turned into an absess. Antibiotics took care of it and we started her on a higher fiber food. So far there haven't been any problems.

The poor dog was so embarrassed because the vet shaved her bald under and around her tail. We got a couple pairs of little girl undies and she happily wore them until some fur grew back...honest!
