Jumping

My dog Lucy is one and a half. She loves everyone, never nips and is energetic.

But the way she greets everyone but me is to jump. Like, in the air and look you in the eye jump. She usually obeys all my commands, but when there is a visitor, her energy level overrrides her ability to obey me.

Anyone got any suggestions?

Cooper, who has now survived to the ripe age of 9 1/2 months, was also this way. I signed us up for good citizen canine classes, and now after four weeks of them, he finally sits and waits to be petted instead of hopping up. Of course, if it involves one of my grandchildren, that is a different story, but he is much, much better than he was a month ago. The thing they teach in class is to turn and ignore them...sooner or later they get the hint that they won't be getting the attention they are looking for. It seems to be working with Cooper (I am madly knocking on wood!!! :) ).

pat.

Children don't care how much you know...they want to know how much you care.
