My cairn terrier has a bad behavior problem

This is the first time that I have ever written here. I have a cairn terrier, scruffy, that will be 3 in May of 2004. Just recently every time my husband, myself or my kids open a door or shut a door, our dog goes nuts. Just tonight he bit my daughter's leg leaving a huge bruise. He has always been an excellent dog. Any advice would be appreciated.

Boy, I'm no expert, but I would try to find a reputable dog trainer in your area and have them visit at your house. I did this when our pup was about 6 months old and I was pulling my hair out over some of his behaviors. Wish I had known there were folks who did this for a living when we had our last Cairn. Obviously something really bothered your dog, but any unprovoked biting like that seems like it could be a serious problem. Maybe talking with a trainer could give you some clue as to what is going on there so that you can help your dog to overcome whatever issue has got him misbehaving.
