Difficulty Passing Stools After Spaying?

Recommended Posts

Madison was spayed yesterday and today I brought her home. Whenever she tries to defecate (assumes the position), she cries out in pain. I'm assuming it's from the anesthesia and the pain medication, not to mention soreness inside. Does this sound normal? Has anyone else's dog experienced it after their dog's neutering? Thanks

Hi! Riley had similar problems after he was neutered and had a liver shunt operation. The doctors recommended a diet of baby food for a day or two after the operation. It made a lot of sense to me - - most humans are fed soft foods after surgery - - and Riley resumed eating normal foods a few days after his operations without further complication.
