How Do I Hand Strip My Cairn?

I have an 11 month old Cairn who I wish to show this year. I need to be able to hand strip him, and although I know that it is hard work and involves pulling out the dead caot hair, I am unsure as to the correct way to do this without him looking a mess! Can someone elighten me? :D

The CTCA has a nice grooming booklet with illustrations, tips, and techniques for only US$5.00.

If you care to travel to Shirland, near Alfreton, Derbyshire, the Midland Cairn Terrier Club appears to be having a show on February 29th. Seeing show cairns groomed "on site" is a terrifc way to get the sense of it. And probably necessary for show grooming!
