I entered Pepper in an all Cairn obedience trial on Friday. Like last time he decided to sniff the wall on the off leash about turn and would not come on the second command to heel. What was interesting was that out of 8 dogs entered in the trial, only one did not stop and sniff in the EXACT same spot. And these were not all "green" dogs...some where 7-8 years old and experienced. This is the second time this has happened to us in this building. Luckily we have no more trials scheduled there in the near future (its 2 1/2 hours away from us) . Its hard enough getting these guys to do obedience without having tantalizing smells on walls! Its too bad because he did a 189 the night before at our class evaluation. And no my instructor is not easy on us! Anyway back to the drawing board and looking forward to our local trial in July.

Welcome to the world of Cairn obedience. I am convinced that you will succeed in earning Pepper's CD. But as Bradl's lovely wife Peggy always says, "It is not a race."

Keep it up!

Best,

Jill
