Hillscreek
Thor is the Norse god of Thunder. He is the Lord of all. His magical hammer can summon thunderbolts. He has red hair (like me says Angus) He can be fearsome and dangerous but protects humans (like me says Angus). Angus believes he can boss Thor. I've seen him do it. A small roll of thunder. A flicker in the dark. Angus, powerful guardian, is alerted. Jumps on to a table by the window, stiffens, hears the noise come nearer and louder, the flashes brighter. It's time for action. Growl a little, bark a bit, increase bark to earslpitting level. Jump up and down on table. Noise of Thor and Angus battling furiously. Thor rumbling and roaring overhead, Angus's angry bark bark bark. Gradually Thor moves away. Angus quiets down. Stops jumping and barking. Looks over his shoulder at me with his special "I can do anything" look in his eyes. Tail wags. A lighthearted look at a cairn's bravery. Angus has never been affraid of thunderstorms. He has saved me many times! 1
Dogcoat lady
You go, Angus! Norrie protects me from an angry mama turkey in the backyard. These turkeys are much bigger than those on the table on Thanksgiving.
Catalyzt
With thunder and fireworks, Spike has a totally different attitude than other suspicious sounds. Car or person outside = enraged defensive barking until I go outside, check, and tell him it's okay. Loud M80 firework goes off a few blocks away? Spike will look over his shoulder at me, (trying not to look nervous, but leaking just a little anxiety) like, "All good, Dad?" "All good, Spike." Then he'll carry on without being hypervigilant. pkcrossley
my Redmon had the idea that thunder was something you raced down the driveway barking fiercely at. that makes it go away. he intended to chase till he found it. fortunately i caught up and attached the leash.
