Hair Pulling and Bumps

We've never had misha's coat 'pulled'...he's ten months old now and although the top of his coat is coarse and wire, it's silky smooth everywhere else. I know I wouldn't trade him for the world, but his coat doesn't match any of the pictures I've seen of other Cairns. If we had his coat pulled, would that help his coarse coat grow more quickly?

Also, he has bumps on his face, his two cheeks and one on his chin. I've also noticed bumps on other places in his body. The vet says that there's nothing wrong with him, but does anyone know what these bumps are? I am a first time dog owner....
