Halloween Doggie Costumes

Here are some pix of the annual event that took place in our local park by the river. There was a contest and prize for the winner, but I think all of these, patient, long-suffering pooches deserve medals for putting up with all the wonderful goofiness!😜

So sweet..little fairies and dogs dressed up. 💕

So cute!  Is that Ruffy in the sailor suit?

Good guess, but no. Ruffy went “au naturel” this time because two years ago, when Ruffy was dressed in his Spidey outfit, he was attacked by a disapproving Teacup Yorkie. Ruffy and the Yorkie were OK. The spider -  not so much.😜

SO do all the dogs carry around little bags and ask for treats -- or promise tricks?

😀! Good question - but the answer is - Sort of.

The Yorkie that attacked us was actually being carried IN a bag that he leapt out of - perhaps because we didn't give him a treat!😡

Additionally, There were bags of treats, food samples, toys, etc., for one and all, on tables supplied by many local merchants, pet shops, vets and groomers.

Thank you so much, Sanford, for sharing the pics from the event.  What fun!  Well, maybe, for some -- our dogs always just humored us.

I have one of the best witch cackles around, and each Halloween I am the Wicked Witch from Oz, and Toto is, well . . . Toto!  I open the door, with him tucked on my arm, point a finger, and cackle, "I told you I'd get your little dog, too!"

Love the costumes.  Our Weimaraner is usually a vampire, and my first Toto was an assortment of things -- Sherlock Holmes, in raincoat and hat. or a 'thug' in a little leather vest with zippers, a chain, and just for fun, we'd reverse roles, and Toto would wear a witch's costume.  I always wanted to figure out how to make it look like Toto had eaten-her-alive, but more often than not, unless he was wearing the witch's hat and cape, he'd just drop it along the way.  Maybe I should've soaked it in something -- like beef blood?

Brad's pic of "Pomeranian Paddington" is my all-time favorite!

My best Halloween moment took place when Charlie (Golden Retriever) and Dobby, (a mix) arrived at the event dressed as a bride and groom. They decided it was time for a play-date and the bride's veil became the casualty, shredded, disheveled and in tatters, dragging along behind her. It was a hilarious sight that got that "marriage" off to a rocky start and I guess the lesson is: "You can dress 'em up, but..."đŸ˜”
