Guest dog person
Yes, I agree. In an ideal world. However, do you think the average pet owner is prepared to pay $2000 a year for testing a healthy dog that has no symptoms? What about the risk of over diagnosis? As it is, just for routine annual exams, labs, dentals, heartworm pills, flea and tick preventives runs about $1000 per year. And then you never know when the unexpected emergencies, vet visits will happen. PS: I will be paying off credit card bills for the last unexpected emergency for the next 5 years. I don't. Fortunately neither do the recommendations. Quote This table is designed to advise breeders on what tests/exams should be done and when. It should also provide a guideline for prospective owners of Cairn puppies to ask what health testing has been done on breeding dogs and resulting puppies. 1 Quote CAIRNTALK: Questions?
