Need suggestions for tiny training treats

Nattie started school today, a basic obedience class.  She doesn't have any glaring behavior problems but we thought the class would help socialize her and give her more confidence.  So far, so good . . . other than the fact that she peed on the floor three times.  Argh!  (She's fine at home; I think she just couldn't deal with all the other dog scents around and felt she needed to add hers.)

I brought some treats along but seriously underestimated the amount that would be needed for the class.  I want to get some super-tiny treats that would be good for her and not full of calories.  Any suggestions?

Good question! I looked at calorie counts and the best I came up with was (small) Charlee Bears at 3 calories per treat and (tiny) Old Mother Hubbard Bitz at only 2 calories. Thankfully, Ruffy likes both, but I wish he preferred carrots or apples instead!

Thanks, Sanford!  I checked out the Charlee Bears and have one question:  Do you use the crunchy or non-crunchy variety?  Does Ruffy have a favorite flavor?

Ummm . . . yeah . . . that was TWO questions.

My favorite is the turkey liver cranberry crunchy. They don’t crush or crumble in my pocket like the regular and cheese ones sometimes do.

For treating on the move (where you don’t want to stop and wait for the dog to crunch a dry treat) and for a higher value treat I buy cheddar sticks from Trader Joe’s and dice them up really tiny.

Hmmm...I wasn't aware that there was a choice of crunchy or non-crunchy. All the ones I've seen are crunchy. Ruffy likes all the flavors.

P.S. Bradl - There's no stopping and waiting... Two chomps, and these small treats are gone. (You must be in an awful hurry)!😀

Sanford - some of the Charlee Bears were labeled with a big "CRUNCH" on the package so I thought there was a difference, but apparently there isn't.

Can't wait to start trying them.  We'll be practicing this evening - assuming I'm not shoveling snow again tonight.  ☺️

I use dried liver treats that I cut up into tiny pieces.  They get a taste but don’t have much to chew.

One thing I always check for in training treats is making sure there is no molasses or other sugars added.

If you can find a freeze dried treat with just protein in it, break it up into tiny pieces as kJ mentioned.

Update:  Nattie (and Ziggy, too) loves the Charlee Bear treats!  They work great for training - easy to handle and they don't stick together like soft treats.  Thanks to all of you for your comments and suggestions!
