Pepper&Ferris
Hi - I’m new to this group and actually new to these kind of online groups so I hope I’m going about this correctly - i have 2 cairns - Pepper and Ferris and my little Pepper who’s 13 has recently been diagnosed with gallbladder sludge - they immediately suggested surgery but I’ve been doing some research that shows certain medications could help so I asked my dr and she said since some of the sludge has mineralized - medication wouldn’t work.... anyone else encountered this and tried medication anyway? Just worried about putting my 13 yr old under the knife - any help would be helpful - thanks so much!! Sam I Am
I would ask your vet if a course of the drug called Ursodiol would help. If it’s an emergency situation then I don’t think you have an option. 1 Quote Until one has loved an animal, a part of one's soul remains unawakened. - Anatole France Adventures with Sam &Rosie
Pepper&Ferris
Thanks for input - So she had an episode of pancreatitis today ... 😒 (1st time in like 5 years) out of nowhere and is staying at vets for a few days to get fluids and antibiotics - they are going to administer the ursodiol to her as well as the Denamarin for her liver - I’m hoping it all works for the pancreas issues - but the sludge is no different/worse then it was a few months ago as I had a freak out today when she starting being sick /shaking ... thinking it ruptured and the vet was surprised the specialist I saw didn’t put her on the meds you referred to - but since there’s some mineralization within the sludge she’s claiming no meds will work and I’m just wondering otherwise as I don’t always have the best faith w vets as they misdiagnosed my other cairn and after numerous different apts with different dr’s I finally found out what was wrong (trachea issues) ..... ugh .
Sam I Am
I am sorry that you are experiencing this with your dog. It’s so tough to see them in pain and sick. Most of us that have had dogs through out our lives have all experienced this and it never gets easier. I hope your girl gets some relief. 1 Quote Until one has loved an animal, a part of one's soul remains unawakened. - Anatole France Adventures with Sam &Rosie
sanford
Hoping for the best and that Pepper's stay at the vet will bring things under control. Wish I could offer more! 1 Quote FEAR THE CAIRN!
