Popular Post Cara L
Hi everyone, I'm a new member who posted in early June; sorry I've been so late with an update. I had written about my then six month old pup Wally who had been snarly and difficult at a vet appointment - shots, exam, etc. Well, happy news. Our follow up was with our regular vet who was back in town, and he did great, just as many of you had predicted. So, thank you so much for your thoughts and opinions on that. Since then Wally has undergone a sort of transformation to the most wonderful, secure, loving and eager little cairn imaginable. He does not challenge me except in playfulness. He lets new people pick him up and love him all over. He's started obedience classes and would do anything to be able to play with the other dogs there -- never mind all these silly exercises mom is making me do! Overall, I feel so very fortunate to have this little guy, and to have you all who understand the challenges and great reward that comes with cairn ownership. He brings joy to my life every day. Here's a recent photo.
hheldorfer
It's great to hear from you again! Wally looks handsome, healthy and happy - good job! I'm also relieved to hear that his snappishness has gone away. Can't wait for more pics and stories as Wally grows up.
Sam I Am
Wally is beautiful! It will be interesting to see if he changes his coat colour. My Jock started out the same brindle but by the time he was 5 he had turned a grey black. 1 Quote Until one has loved an animal, a part of one's soul remains unawakened. - Anatole France Adventures with Sam &Rosie
Cara L
Thank you! Both his parents are wheaten, so I'm expecting him to lighten up as he ages, but my understanding is there's no guarantee for how they'll turn out. That's fine with me! I love him just as he is, and it would almost be a bit odd at this point if he no longer looks like himself!
Sam I Am
Jocks colour change was so drastic that some people who hadn't seen him in awhile, thought I had gotten another Cairn. 2 Quote Until one has loved an animal, a part of one's soul remains unawakened. - Anatole France Adventures with Sam &Rosie

_whits_
Thank you for checking in and for posting that ADORABLE picture!!!! Your Wally has such a sweet face. Glad to hear things are settling down. I remember my early weeks with Addie, loved her to bits but thought she was trying to make me go crazy. Obedience classes, doggie day care, treat puzzles, and many walks helped settle her into a still rambunctious but slightly less insanity-inducing pup. 1 Quote "as far as i am concerned cairns are the original spirit from which all terriers spring, and all terriers are cairns very deep down inside." pkcrossley
