Ivy and her dew claw operation

Week last Friday Ivy was spayed and had a dew claw removed from front leg.  The breeder had paid her vet to remove them all from litter but must have missed one of hers.  So day after operation had to return to vet for dressing to be removed from tummy and leg.  I decided to used a blow up comfy collar so that was on Ivy.

However, that night she managed to pull the stitches out of the incision for the dew claw, even with the collar on.... so had to go back to vets as she now had a open wound.  The vet looked at it and decided against restitching as he said the same thing would happen, so he had the vet nurse clean it and dress it.  And this meant that every day for past week I had had to return to vets for the would to be cleaned and dressed.  So was delighted yesterday when the vet nurse got the vet to check it out and he said w could now come in every other day!  He felt it was healing nicely as Ivy gave him a kiss....

The tummy incision has never been bothered with and that is fine now.

Ivy has however been very happy to go into the vets everyday, and wag her tail at the receptionists, lick and kiss whichever nurse we have seen!  She has then after the job done insisted on me walking around the shop that the vets have and so that has given her a bit of exercise and a chance to get some fuss from some of other staff there!

The staff have all been enchanted with Ivy, they do not see many Cairns there so she has won some admirers for the breed!

Glad she is healing well. Sounds like she made quite the impression on the staff!  Good going, Ivy! :)

If she does keep on licking it a toddlers cotton sock will help...even if only for the night.
