bradl
In recognition of the cultural heritage that may yet linger in our wee beasties by way of their ancestral origins, Happy Burns Night! Although I will most likely be celebrating Burns supper with a pizza ( ) I can't help but have a permanent soft spot for the Haggis, having eaten one and loved another. So with that I offer you a Harry MacFadyen's pretty splendid rendition of Address Tae the Haggis: For reference, the text of the poem, a translation, and additional Burns resources, courtesy of the Alexandria Burns Club. 1 Quote CAIRNTALK: Questions? Hillscreek
Amazingly the little town nearest us pop 3,000+ celebrates Robert Burns the last Sunday in January. Some Scot must have crept in some time and asserted him/herself as much of the population is of Welsh,or Polish inheritance. They have a "haggis" made of who knows what that is piped in , praise spoken and a wee dram drunk.
bradl
Tastes as good as it sounds! (Actually, to our surprise we found it delicious. The scotch may have contributed slightly.) kjwarnold
Yes, the scotch we consumed in Edinburgh years ago greatly contributed to the flavor of the haggis! We also enjoyed celebrating Hogmanay with a Scots co-worker when we lived in London. I was afraid to celebrate with him in Edinburgh, although invited. They are serious about that party! Sam I Am
Coming from my mothers side of the family(100% highlanders. Grandad used to wear a kilt and toss the caber) Haggis has been consumed yearly. Love the stuff...with potatoes and neeps (turnip). Must be the reason we always have Scottish dogs.
