Finn - formerly known as Willie

Finn came to us Wednesday night. Good news! There have been no jealousy issues between he and Callie. They play well together. He is one laid back guy. When I first brought him in, he went right to his bed and lay down, just like he knew it was his. (photo attached)

He sleeps through the night in the kitchen, never gets out of bed.

His head bobble takes a bit of getting used to, but it lessens in frequency and intensity when he is relaxed. His back legs are very weak - it's like he has a sack of potatoes on his back end. But I can tell they're getting stronger with our walks, because now he is able to lift his leg when he pees; he couldn't do that before.

Looking into water therapy for that.

He is definitely a lap dog. Haven't heard him bark yet in four days but I'm sure that's coming. Here's a close up of his facial markings. Does he look like a Jack Russell Terrier mix?  Going to the vet Thursday as it appears he has allergies (runny eyes, nose, and he is licking one of his paws.

Whatever his mix he is so sweet. He will grow stronger w. walks and maybe also with hydrotherapy which I think helped Josies Holly very much.

Aww, Finn is precious and so sweet! It seems he has settled right in nicely and looks adorable on his bed. I'm so glad that he and Callie seem to like each other. Good luck when you visit the vet about his issues. :)

he looks even more adorable now than in his last photo. as for the hind end weakness, my cairn teddy had and still has some of this as a result of hydrocephalus. when he was a puppy i would build mountains made of pillows and have him climb them (he is blind, so i got him to do this by putting his bed and favorite toys at the top) and it really made a difference. water therapy sounds good too. as for vaccinations: ask a vet about possible neurological sensitivity after distemper, particularly intracranial pressure. there might not be any, in which case you can just put finn on any regimen you think is most practical. but distemper dogs are always vulnerable to seizures and since reaction to vaccines can cause a slight rise in temperature and intracranial pressure, the likelihood of seizures might increase (but perhaps to a negligible degree) after a vaccination. if you know to expect them seizures can be less terrifying and dogs whose seizures are caused by rises in intracranial pressure most likely recover completely once the pressure returns to normal. but it is a calculation you will want to make carefully, weighing the risks of not vaccinating against the risks of a seizure. in teddy's case, intracranial pressure is an issue,  so teddy gets the rabies vaccine required by law, and nothing else (it has never given him problems).

Aww what a little cutie. Callie must be happy to have a playmate and knows to be easy on him right now so he can get better. Then they can really cause a ruckus in the house. The good care he is getting from you will have him in shape. Welcome to the group Finn. Have fun.

Finn is settling in nicely. He and Callie wait in line for food as they have decided on their own to share food and water bowls. LOL Caliie is EXTREMELY protective of him. We have to correct growling and barking at people who approach because of this. Attached is a recent photo of him snoozing. Notice the tongue.

I sometimes call him "Chip" for chipmunk since he puts things in his cheeks, i.e. leaves, sticks, rocks, and dog poop and brings them inside and promptly deposits them on our living room carpet. I sweep his mouth before we go in, but he still manages to keep his treasures inside his cheeks.

His back legs are so strong that he outran quite a few dogs at the dog park last weekend.

OMGoodness!  Look at the pic!  Priceless.  So glad you took Finn into your home.  I could snuggle with Finn anytime.
