Dogs and Robots

Interesting article about dogs' interaction with robots, Dogs Treat Sociable Robots Like People

I like the idea of dogs as a sort of success gauge for designers.

Dogs’ reactions could communicate to engineers the threshold between interactive and truly social, which is often a sticking point for making robots that are sufficiently human-like.

On the other hand, I can't escape the suspicion that to my dogs  I'm nothing but a treat-dispensing robot myself. Hmmmmm.

Very interesting.

I suspect, Brad, that you may not be all that far off in your suspicion. :D

What was that about the bond between us and our cairns? Somehow I thought was special................well I am..........specially good at producing food on time, playing with a ball when requested, providing opportunities for walks, snuggling in the evening as needed etc etc

I've come to admit that in fact, Addie is the owner and I'm the pet. She thinks I'm particularly useful at reaching things in tall places: "Mom, fetch!"
