Encouraging Outer Coat Growth

As I've seen on previous posts, my 4 year old Cairn has had her coat shaved by groomers which has essentially ruined her wiry outer coat! She's about to be taken to someone who knows what they're doing to strip and attempt to remedy the damage, however I was wondering there's anyway I can encourage the growth of her outer coat between grooming?

Recently discovered Pure Paws products.  Look for their website, and ask the owner Arlene, about which products she recommends.  For me, I loved the 25 dollar starter kit, sampler.

Good for terriers:

Crisp Coat Shampoo

Isle of Dogs Shampoo.

I use IOD. Keeps Angus's coat harsh.

However it will not make a soft coat harsh by itself.

So am I reading correctly that there may be a way to encourage the outer coat to grow ?

I thought once the Cairn was clipped, that was it. Please advise....
