Unplanned Forum Upgrade

I was not planning to upgrade the forum any time soon, but a hacking has forced my hand. surrender.gif

I'm not going to spend my Christmas day cleaning up after hackers or installing software, but sometime after today, possibly Wednesday afternoon, I will attempt the upgrade.

Expect the forum to be offline for a while, then likely errors and shenanigans for another while, as there are often changes in the 'skin' or look-and-feel of the site after a major upgrade. As an example, the forum markers may revert from Cairn images to folders or similar. I will restore order bit by bit and day by day.

Sorry for the disruption.

Upgrade is slower than expected, so I'm opening the forum while we wait. I've reverted the forum 'skin' to default in the meantime. Though the forum looks slightly different, it's the same version as before. I'll post again once the upgrade is complete.

As always during upgrade periods if you suddenly encounter extreme crashiness and dire-sounding error messages ("server misconfiguration" and worse) please ignore them, the site is probably in the process of being overwritten with new files, scripts being run, and so on. Close the broswer, wish us luck, and check back later :)

Thanks for your patience.

Brad I read your suggestions about what to do while waiting for the upgrade to complete. You left out one. Take a couple shots of whiskey for withdrawals. :D

Thanks for all of your hard work on the forum Brad.

My pleasure (no really, I mostly enjoy it).

I'm guessing the upgrade may actually take place maybe Monday or Tuesday. I decided to let the vendor do the main part since we're skipping several versions ahead and upgrading the board, the calendar, the chat, and the gallery all at a whack. Since I believe Support is on the East coast I expect it may happen while I'm asleep. If you get to the forum before I do whenever it does happen, you'll know it happened because it's more than likely that "Cairn Talk" will be gone from the top of the page and "IPS Community" may be there instead. It's a trivial fix later, but one of the small tweaks that seem to need to be done after most version changes.

I noticed that the "quote bubble" icons were new, but couldn't remember what was there before. How could I forget the little Cairns?
