Ok SUCKER sign on my forehead is going full blast. We got a new dog yesterday. She's as big as a lab, but white and long-haired with a pink nose and looks of the olde english mix variety. She is very adorable, about a year, I have no idea if she is house broken and she is in heat. I can't understand why no else wanted to take her home! :)

What I need to know is how long a female is in heat, I would think a week, but they said it could last a month (poor dog) and she needs to get fixed right away. She was around australian shepards and in a barn (poor thing was black with dirt)

Not a good combo for puppies.

Toto is in love! (Not to worry he is fixed too - imagine those puppies  )

Thanks

K

Wow! Was this unexpected to get another dog? What's her name?

imagine those puppies  )
Uhhh...don't wanna visualize how the puppies would get "made." Toto would need a ladder! :censored:

You had me roaring with the idea of of Toto - :P

Our girls name is Kailey (although that may change - but she knows it) I guess she was originally found tied to a pet shop door by her leash with her bowls, toys, and her xerox of her health record with the vets name blocked out.

She really is a sweet dog -

Buy a farm and THEY WILL COME!!!

Wouldn't you just love to tie some people up to a tree with their belongings? Arrgh!

I love Kailey's name, it's different. I know she 's found a terrific home! Hey, maybe you can get a little saddle and put Toto on Kailey's back for a ride! Okay, I need more coffee. I'm picturing Toto with a cowboy hat on and a lasso (sp?) on his paw.

Kailey sounds like a sweetie! I am picturing Toto using a ladder and now I think I need to drink something stronger than coffee! LOL!

Welcome, Kailey!

Hi

Molly was in heat for approx 3 weeks although she only bled for around 2 (the first 4 or 5 days she was seemed to be getting started).

Hope this helps.

Oh Brad you got me rolling under my desk! That is too funny!!!

She is such a nice dog - she fed horses with me this morning and last night, stuck by close real nice. Not real horse smart but then the horses are used to not so bright dogs.

Played well with everyone - Toto gave her his ball with the handle - he's in love!

She loves the kids already. Tonight our family project is to scrub the dog, our white dog is black. The kids are all excited to put her in their tub. She's a good 50 # dog so plenty of room for everyone to scrub. She acts like she has always been around, so that is real good!

Only question I have is why is it the HUGE dogs are the ones that want to be lap dogs. Her nose is even with the kitchen table and she swears she has always sat in all her owners laps.

Congrats on your new addition, K! That's kind of you to take Kailey in. We acquired our blue merle aussie when the breeder took him to be put down due to his coloring but the vet wouldn't do it. He has been the greatest, most loyal dog. It's nice to have one that I can trust to stay in the yard if the gate is open and walk w/ me w/o a leash in the front yard.

The heat cycle usually lasts 3 wks, one reason so get a female spayed if there's no plans for puppies. Please post a picture of her when you get a chance. My cairns love our aussie, bet your Toto will love Kailey too.

P.S. Brad, you're too funny. :D
