Carolinasmom
After searching I found some good vidoes on a website called www.5min.com that shows some good grooming of Cairns. I gave it a try today and had some success. After about 15 min. Ellie was done with it but I feel like I at least got a good start! We'll keep working! I saw someone's post about grooming them on the porch with the leash attached to the railing so I tried it and it worked well!
MMPF
You know what helped us with grooming Commodore, the ironing board. Commer is a gem with the groomer and doesn't complain at all. But if we try to brush him or cut his nails...he goes crazy...just completely crazy....BUT if we put him on the ironing board he is a different dog. I think something about the height makes them feel a little more vulnerable and they realise you are in control. We don't need a leash so no chance of him tugging on it or hurting himself..... We give him a ton of treat while he is up there so he doesn't feel like it is a bad thing but it gives us the control we need to groom him without hurting ourselves or him.
