Cairn throwing up

Nicky is now 2 years old. And is a great pet. We love him so much. It is hay fever season here in the Midwest. And last year and this year he has thrown up some. It is yellow mucus-he eats later and keeps things down and all. And is not running fever. But he usually has an iron stomach. But this time of year he eats grasshoppers if he can-and God knows what else. Last year the vet said give him Pepto Bismo and it cleared up in a day or so. But just wondering does anyone else have problems like this?

Scully is 15 months old has done the same thing from time-to-time, with the yellow mucous throw-up. We've pretty much figured out it's something that she picked up outside that she shouldn't have eaten. She does love her bugs. Blech!

I have to watch my 3 yr old Kiara. Certain times of the year there are more toads than usual and she will go after them, even after they squirt that bitter spray in her mouth. She will throw up if she gets too much of that. It drives me crazy but I can't get her to stop going after those toads.

Scout likes to eat lots of "stuff" outside and will sometimes throw up too. Why can't they leave bugs, worms, and acorns alone??

Bella will eat just about anything she can outside. She won't stop eatin dirt, grass. leafs she'll chew-even rocks if I'd let her. I'm learning how she plays this I'm not watching game. She will throw-up from time to time-Im thinking this shall pass...?

I'm living in the midwest as well. Pepto Bismo? I'm not sure I would give a dog that pink goo!?

Good Luck

Hi! I have an old-fashioned remedy that will calm an upset stomach that I have used on Riley from time to time and one that my own mother used on me! You take 4 cups of water and one cup of white rice and boil it until the rice softens. Strain the rice in a bowl - - the rice water can then be given to your dog in small increments throughout the day - - I use a bulb syringe - - until the dog stops vomiting (this works equally as well for diarrhea). The water soothes the stomach and also helps to bind everything a little. The rice can then be mixed into the dog's normal food or mixed with a little boiled meat if problems continue. Worth a try!!!

I posted this very same subject awhile back. Both my girls will vomit the yellow bile liquid. My vet tried antihistamines on my older Cairn, Winnie and it helped. Because Madison was hanging out near the bird feeders and getting into areas where the critters hang out, we wormed her and so far both girls have been fine.

I've also found that if they have an empty stomach, that can cause them to vomit too.

Gosh, thanks to everyone for suggestions. The Pepto Bismo worked fast last year. He will eat anything. Got to watch more carefully!!! I found a dang praying mantis in his pen when I went out to check it out. Why does this time of year bring out all these creatures like this?? He is due to go to the vet anyway. Will take him sooner.

Just one more addition from our vet. We give them a Tums every night. They think it's a cookie and we don't get the puke any more. I'm with y'all...those bugs How can they do that

We made an appointment with the vet for tomorrow at 11 O'Clock. I want to make sure that Nick doesn't have worms or something else. I know they can get infections like we can. Will post what the vet says and does.
