The host hotel reservation guarantee deadline is July 1 (call 1-800-RED-LION, 800-733-5466); the show entry deadline is July 7. Onofrio (www.onofrio.com) supports online entry of course.

July 24 - CTCA Roving

July 24 - Portland Dog Obedience - Obed & Rally

July 25 - PKC All-breed - Obed & Rally

Event Entries Closing on July 26:

July 26 - CTCA & CRCTC Earthdog Tests

(Both pre-entry and day-of entries permissible. See premium list for closing times.)

--------------------------------

See the Roving Specialty Information page (www.crctc.org/roving) for many additional details including dinner reservations by mail or PayPal, hotel information, veteran parade information, community grooming space availability, committee contacts, links to show information and premium lists, and more.

Special Foundation Event:

Thursday, July 22, Host hotel. At 5:00 PM Dr. Simon Petersen-Jones will provide an Ocular Melanosis Research Update. Dr. Petersen-Jones will also do free eye exams/screenings for OM on Thursday afternoon and evening. This is a rare opportunity to have the leading researcher for OM examine your Cairns to determine their status. Older dogs are especially vulnerable, and you are encouraged to bring as many as possible.

To schedule appointments for exams please contact Pam McDonald at maidstonepgm@aol.com or (631) 324-1779 before July 15. For more information, please contact Lydia Hutchinson at wolfpitcairns@juno.com.

Looking Forward!

The members of the Columbia River Cairn Terrier Club are looking forward to hosting you and your dogs for a terrific long weekend of Cairn activity. There should be something for everyone and we hope to see you in July!

Until then, stay cool and safe travels,

Brad LaBroad

I’ve heard from a couple of folks who were momentarily confused by the Combined Specialties premium list. The “Combined Specialties” spans two days and some clubs have back-to-back specialties on Friday and Saturday, so the entry form lists both Friday and Saturday at the top. The Columbia River Specialty is Friday only and you will only use that entry form for the Friday CRCTC specialty. For the Roving on Saturday (and the all-breed on Sunday) you need a different entry form, from the Portland Kennel Club Stumptown Cluster. Onofrio generally mails both premiums in the same packet and both are accessible from onofrio.com.

Thanks for clearing that up Brad. We are driving up! Got to decide if we are working or socializing only but either way we will have fun, both us and the furkids.

The Columbia River Cairn Terrier Club held a first class event! The Specialties were first class, as was Earthdog on Monday. Great job!

It was a lovely event. We were made to feel very welcome and had a GREAT time. Can't wait to come back next year. Hopefully Izze will be ready for Open Obedience, Greysen will be in Novice Obedience and the Brace will be back if that class is offered again (Since we all need a little laugh).

Thank you CRCTC for being such lovely hosts!

Raise your expectations for what your Cairn can do....and try very hard to meet your Cairn's expectations of you.

The events we attended were super and the club made us feel welcome. I even won a basket in the raffle! More coffee for me and some chocolate to share with the uprights in our household. We went over to the coast afterward and Cassie and Leo did some serious sand digging on the beach.
