jhq
I am finding difficulty looking for a groomer for my 13 month old puppy. He definitely needs to be hand plucked. Any recommendations?
bradl
Some ideas: sometimes a club's breeder referral person may know of Cairn breeder-exhibitors who do grooming on the side. List of regional clubs affiliated with the Cairn Terrier Club of America here: www.cairnterrier.org/affiliates/. If a club's web site does not list a breeder referral, you can write the corresponding secretary of the club and ask if they have one. Another good idea is to attend a few dog shows. If you wander around the grooming areas and talk to folks, you can often get a referral to a terrier person who will groom pets. Don't limit yourself to Cairn handlers only - talk to any of the double-coated terrier breed folks: Scottie, Norwich, Norfolk, Lakeland, Welsh, Border, etc. Another idea is to learn to do it yourself! Grooming seems to be a bit like riding a bicycle - learning how to do it by reading is the hard way - yet once you see it in person and try it, it's really not hard at all. The very best way is to find a mentor to show you how. Connecting with active Cairn or terrier folk is the fastest, simplest way to do that. CAIRNTALK: Questions?
