Such a fluffy coat! Stripping or Coat King?

Granted its always difficult to tell in pictures, but it looks like he still definitely has some outer coat. That hair your finger is sort of poking through? Yup, thats all outer coat that can come out. It may not come out quite as easily as some of the other hairs, but it will/can come out.

You will know when you get to undercoat...it is SUPER soft/downy.

I wouldn't dare try to advise you on stripping a puppy coat, but I wanted to say that Gretsch is absolutely adorable. I love his black mask! He is just too cute.
