mmorri26
I just adopted a wonderful Cairn terrior from the Humane Society but when I went to pick her up she had been completely shaved from with the exception of her head and tail. She's a completely different dog. I was very upset because she lost her beautiful coat which is special to her breed. This is my first Cairn so what should I expect from her coat growing in? How long will it take?
Tracy A.
it varies from dog to dog on coat growth speed.... but hair does grow back! Mine took around 4 months to have hair grow fully back when they had surgery. Autumn & Lola
Hi and welcome. My husband and I adopted our Cairn, Molly, in March. We had her clipped very short (the uninformed groomer told us that stripping was painful and unnecessary and we stupidly believed her). That was about April 1st. 5 months later she has a VERY full, lovely coat. I think it took about 3 months to grow in. Granted, she wasn't shaved, but still, her coat grew quickly I thought, and it looks wonderful.
bradl
How long will it take? I'd guess 1/2 inch a month for the jacket as a (wildly variable) rule of thumb. CAIRNTALK: Questions?
