Guest Carrie Armitage
We used to have an older dog along with our 6 year old female Cairn, Pippin. Pippin has always enjoyed her walks but with the older dog we were limited as to how fast and long we could walk. She's out in the backyard most of the day chasing squirrels so she gets lots of excersize. Since our older dog passed away a few months ago, Pippin has now started going for much longer walkies and our problem is that as long as we are walking away from the house she's great on the walk but as soon as she perceives that we are heading home she gets very stubborn, even lying down in protest and pulling in the opposite direction. It makes for a very unpleasant experience and even if I try to get her to heel she is still in protest mode all the way back. We've tried mixing up the walk so she's not sure exactly when we are heading back but eventually you run out of options. Any suggestions?
