Show or Neuter?

I have a 5 month old Cairn puppy that my breeder has determined has all the qualities for the show ring. I've never shown a dog, but it sounds like fun. My biggest concern is not being able to neuter him. I'm so afraid he'll develop "bad boy" habits like marking and trying to escape. Do any of you show your cairn? Can you give me an idea of what life is like with an unneutered male? Is showing worth it? I love this guy so much and I want to do the right thing. My biggest priority is a happy, healthy, well adjusted member of our family. Is it possible to have a well behaved intact male dog? He is completely housebroken. Any help or advice would be very much appreciated.
