This book was recommended to us by our breeder when we got our first Cairn.

It is comprehensive and educational to read on its own. It's useful from puppyhood through geriatric days. It's an invaluable companion to navigating home and veterinary treatment and care for the myriad issues that crop up in a dog's life. And in times of stress it's accessible: it is well indexed and has an additional index of symptoms conveniently printed on the inside cover.

The book has been revised and expanded and has accumulated additional authors and expertise over the years.

We have consulted it many times over the lives of many dogs. Often in the middle of the night as we fuss and fret over whether or not something is an outright emergency *right now* or something where a daytime trip to the vet or watchful waiting are reasonable plans.
