Sandi16
My son Jonny, who is five, kept asking me to bring Louie to his Pre-k one day when I pick him up, since one girl's grandma always has her Shih tzu and he wanted to show off his pup pup. I brought Louie in, and of course everyone was oohing and ahhing. Louies seems to really dig little kids, which I find funny because he is snarly with my two kids on a daily basis. My two mess with him a lot though. He's even really good about not jumping up. He jumped up on my friends toddler once, and she screamed and then cried for 20 minutes. I think that really scared him as he hasn't done it since. One of the teachers was in the hall helping kids go potty. She looked down and Louie and said "Oh my WORD!! He is IDENTICAL, the SPITTING IMAGE of my dog from 20 years ago, Scruffy!!" She said they got Scruffy from the shelter, and assumed he was a mutt. I told her that Louie was a Cairn and that, she probably had a Cairn to if they were so similar. She said they could be twins, same size and everyone She then told me that Scruffy got hit by a UPS truck. Her daughter opened the garage door and Scruffy darted out front (typical Cairn I told her ) Then, she started crying. She looked at Louie and was petting him, and crying. My heart broke for her. This happened 20 years ago and it affected her so much still. I felt bad for bringin him. This is the second time someone saw Louie and cried over their lost pet. Sam I Am
I have tears in my eyes reading your post! Perhaps Louie is a reincarnated Cairn Angel! Losing a beloved pet is heartbreaking. I still look at our little Scottie urn up on our mantel and have many a good cry still. How can one not when they touch a piece of our hearts only reserved for them. Until one has loved an animal, a part of one's soul remains unawakened. - Anatole France Adventures with Sam &Rosie
SparkyJonesMom
Oh, why did I read this at work? I nearly embarrassed myself by crying. That is so sad. It breaks my heart that after 20 years she is still so heartbroken over him. Sparky Jones & Scout Jones

Kramersmom
Oh my now ya have me crying too. I have good crys too of my Missy. It has been a little over 4 years but when I see a black cairn it really hits me hard. I cry and I can see my Missy. I guess its bitter sweet. Missy was 17 when she passed and I can see any breed and if it has the aging grey around eyes muzzle, I lose it and ball. It can be a deer, whatever animal, those golden ages really hit my heart and I just can't stop thinking about it for a day or so. Certain things can really trigger ya. I hope Louie had fun. boats85
During orientation for Pet Therapy training, this issue was brought up and is one of the reasons for pet therapy. during visitations you will know everything about the patient's dogs past and present and there may be a tear shed or two. We were told this is not anguish but brininging up fond memories of a long ago pet. This takes their mind off of all the present problems if even for a lttle while and they look forward to next visit. If they have a beloved pet at home waiting for them it helps to make the patients try a little harder to leave. So some tears shed is brining up some great moments that they had with thier pups, and I will propably shed a tear myself. So Sandi please bring back Louie, share him and make a special effort to visit the teacher Boats
