New York Times column on "the family dog"

There is a beautiful New York Times article today about an old poodle by her owner, a NYT editor who has prostate cancer. It was very moving, as were the comments on it. The link to it is below. My own Cairn, Pepper, is now 10 and has been coping with kidney disease for several years. He is moving slower, sleeps a lot, but has the same joy in going for a walk, and the same beautiful brown eyes peeping from his little furry black face.

I can't see straight...there's something moist in my eyes...
