Hi I'm new and we just lost our Cairn--- Daisy to stomach cancer and we are heart-broken and very lonely...We have started our search for a new baby but in Alabama there are no Cairn breeders so we are looking at other states, we have found a breeder in Ga..and we are talking with them , they have a litter that will be ready for pick-up in 2 weeks so that is probably what we will do....I have enjoyed reading about all of your babies and seeing pictures and am very glad i have found the site...........Wish I could figure out how to post a picture of my Daisy.......Can you upload a picture from my pictures? Let me know if anyone else is from Alabama!!!

I'm sorry to hear about Daisy, and I wish you the best of luck with a new little furbaby. If you want to post pictures, I think the only way to do it is to sign up for an account with a photo hosting site, like www.photobucket.com. You can upload pictures from your computer there, and then it'll give you a URL. You can then take the URL link and click on "insert image" in a post here, and then paste the link there. If you need any more info about it, just send me a PM.

Hello, and welcome to the Forum. I'm very sorry to learn of the loss of your Daisy, and I think that bringing a new Cairn into your family is a wonderful idea. Your new puppy won't replace Daisy, who will always remain in your heart & you thoughts, but he/she will bring new love and companionship for you. SparkyJonesMom mentioned Photobucket, it's a free site where you can upload & resize your pictures from your computer or camera, and then copy & paste them from there to your post on the Forum. Hopefully you will soon be able to show us pictures of your Daisy, and your new puppy too. You will enjoy this forum, and we're glad to have you with us.

Aww I'm so sorry to hear about your loss, Daisy. A new little one will help ease a little of the pain but of course Daisy will never be forgotten. I lost my Missy 4 years ago. My hubby and son surprised me with a male Cairn who we named Kramer. I wasn't pleased at first, I just lost Missy months before and was not at all ready. Caring for her for 17 years her loss was very hard to deal with. When I look back now, Kramer was a lot of help getting me to learn how to live life without her. I wish you all the luck in getting a new pup soon. Can't wait to see a picture of Daisy. My heart aches with you.

Idaho Cairns

Put me on the welcome wagon and also as a Cairn owner that applauds your decision to replace a beloved Cairn with another. We lost our 18 year old Tootsie in August and acquired a new puppy in December--it was the best cure for the terrible grieving we were going thru for those long months.

Replacing Daisy with another Cairn is a wonderful vote of appreciation and love for Daisy's memory--good for you!

I'm going to try to post a picture of Daisy.............. Thanks for all the support , you all know how much our fur-babies mean to us and your right about getting a new baby to love.........also we will carry Daisy in our hearts, she was 10 years old and she was a angel.....Daisy was the only Cairn we've had and I'm hoping that all Cairns have that wonderful, sweet personality......We have decided on the one in Ga.....and will get her next week and her name will be Dixie..........Thanks for listening...... Sorry my file won't quit trying to load, I got a photobucket account but still can't post a picture.......

You can post pictures from "My Pictures" on your computer. You first have to compress it using an editing software....open your picture, right click on it, select "Open With", select "Microsoft Office Picture Manger (or similar program available), then compress or resize photo so the file is not to large. Save it. Then when you are posting a message to the forum, use the Browse..... button just below the white box you are typing in, find your file, use the UPLOAD button (in green). When it says upload was successfull you have to click on the little drop down arrow just above the UPLOAD button (it says Manage Current Attachments) and click on the far left icon which has a green plus sign on it. This will plop it into your post.

If it says upload failed, your file was probably too big.

Wow, that was a little wordy to explain, but once I started typing it, I couldn't stop! Maybe it would be easier to use photobucket. I've done it both ways.

Can't wait to see Daisy's picuture. I have a Lab named Daisy. I am sorry for you loss.

Attachments are OK but not an ideal long term solution. If you attach very many files you will soon run out of personal storage space on our server and have to delete old pictures to make room for new ones. That leaves your original post without the picture any more.

I much prefer using an image host and 'hotlinking' to the picture using the IMG tags. There are many free hosts, and paid hosts are even more abundant. Using an image hosts requires a bit more care to make sure the image you are embedding is a reasonable size, and you will have to learn how to read a URL (web address) to verify that it is not a script address, but a plain path to an ordinary image file.

Questions about the forum itself should really be in the support forum.

What a beautiful girl, Daisy. She has the same markings/color of my Kramer who is now 4.

What a sweet looking girl. Its so hard for me to see pictures and know they have left us.

Losing my girl 4 years ago still makes me shed tears. I saw your new little baby Dixie in the other post and she is darling. You will see what joy she brings to you. Daisy will never be forgotten.
