mrseggcup
WOOF! Elli, here. I haven't posted for a while, the Alpha B hogs the computer. Now that spring has sprung she's busier and I can finally get to the computer. We had a lot of snow this winter so I mostly just hung out chomping bully sticks and sleeping. Now that the weather is better I am busy RUNNINGAROUNDALLCRAZYBARKINGMYFOOLHEADOFF cuz the birds, bunnies, squirrels and chipmunks are out. It's practically a full time job. Now that it is warm the stupid Alpha B is out digging again. Anybody got any ideas how to stop her from doing that? I have never been much of a digger myself but she's really nutty about it. She won't even let me help. I thought I had her trained but you know how stubborn those uprights can be. They seem to know exactly what you want them to do but they just look at you and go do something else! It's a good thing they have thumbs and can feed us! I hope all of you are well and keeping your uprights in line. WOOF! Eli
josie&holly
Hi Eli, Holly from England here. I am envious of all the animals you can go out chasing! I do not have that opportunity unles we go to what my upright calls the country park - but we don't get chipmunks here anyway! I think my upright is not bothered about digging as the little garden I have has lots of plants in it and I get told off for knocking them down! but we have some pretty spring flowers around. I have trained my upright as well as can now so that she does the things for me that I want - like feeding! love Holly www.cairnterriertalk.co.uk
tlwtheq
Now that it is warm the stupid Alpha B is out digging again. Anybody got any ideas how to stop her from doing that? ... I hope all of you are well and keeping your uprights in line. WOOF! Eli We haven't found a way to prevent this digging "thing". After all, we do plenty of digging in the yard. Aren't our services more than excellent? At any rate, being loyal CUR members we have plenty of other little tricks to keep the MB (translation, "Mommy Beas'") and the DB (translation, "Daddy Beas'") occupied. In future communiques we'll probably just reference them as MB and DB. Well, back to causing mayhem!! sheila and Misty
suggestion-you might want to bury a peice of jewelry or some quaters in the designated area you prefer your upright to dig. rewards are great for good behavior!
Puddlesmama
Mom had just put a fresh pile of dirt in our digging area.. She didnt think of how much fun it would be to let US spread it out for her! I think she is trying to take over our game..And this has GOT to STOP! I LOVE MY CAIRNS PUDDLES AND IRIS!
mrseggcup
WOOF! You-know-who! Good idea, misty, with the jewelry and quarters! The Alpha B is very food-oriented and if I had thumbs I could REALLY control her. Thumbs and a credit card. Oh, and a car. Problem with the food training is I like food, too, so I might eat her treats. She does not eat my treats, tho, which is a good thing. And she won't let me eat her treats. Dang, it's gonna be hard to rule the world but let's keep brain-storming, Dawgs! WOOF! Eli
Cairnmania
Abby and Rudi here ... One of our uprights is a digger and plant mover. She digs one hole and then another hole and then moves the plant from one hole to another. We don't know why. We think she may have a "temperament problem" in the Spring. So we try to fix the problem but she does not appreciate it! When she is finished moving the plant from one hole to another we try real hard to put it back where it came from - but she always starts with her "STOP DIGGING" noise. All we want to do is move the plant back where it came from but our efforts are NOT appreciated.
mrseggcup
WOOF! Me again. I know, I know! It's a good thing these uprights are cute and feisty cuz they sure can be frustrating. I can just see the Alpha B if she knew there was a tennis bracelet buried out there in the yard. Or chocolate! HAHAHAHA! Now that spring's here there's one more thing that she does that makes me mad. Every time we are outside and I come over to her for some pats and rubs, she starts PULLING OUT CLUMPS OF MY FUR!!!! Of course I try to humor her a bit but then I have to run away. What the heck is up with that??? If she wanted some lovin' and I started yanking at her hair she would have a hissy fit! I think it's something to do with me looking like a yak. I like looking like a yak! And while these clumps of my precious hair are blowing about the yard she said something about critters might line their nests with MY fur! Isn't that catering to the enemy? Honestly, I do not understand what these uprights are thinking! WOOF! Eli

jodi0553
yo eli, currey here. good to hear from you, dawg! my uprights are as nuts as you. yesterday one of them dug up flowers and moved them around and the other dug up a whole tree and moved it. the one pulling out the flowers was at least sane enough that she was shaking them and ripping big clumps into smaller ones, but she didn't let me help and i'm a professional at that! i just don't get it! i got completely de-yaked today. they brought out the big table and plopped me up on it for a whole hour! they said they were just puttin' the winter coats away so i'd be more comfy, but i don't buy it for a minute. no worries though, i acted like the whole order was torture! at one point i did just give up and roll over, and they had the nerve to take a picture of me! mrseggcup
Man, that sucks. Thank goodness the Alpha B is too cheap to buy one of those tables and too lazy to de-yakkify me all over. She just brushes me once in a while and pulls out random hair daily. Let me tell you, it is SO annoying! I think we should report them to someone. Like the ASPCA or PETA or the BVDs. And when we call we gotta mention the nail cutting thing and oh my gosh, the anal gland thing! There must be a law against that sort of thing! Maybe Obama can save us! OK, I didn't get elected President but I could go live in the White House and play with those girls. I like kids. And I promise I won't make the little one sneeze! What's the phone number for the White House? I am so outta here! WOOF! Eli
jodi0553
eli, i agree...we definitely need to take action and report them. but then who will feed me and take me for walks?!? and whose bed will i sleep in? oh no...i think we are stuck. my alpha b got the table as a gift my other alpha. he thought that the table would make it so she could pluck at me without his help but i showed them! i put up such a fuss and fight that it takes the table with the noose AND two uprights to groom me. of course they do keep saying how handsome i look now that i lost that big winter coat. alpha b said something about me practically being in my UNDERWEAR today! at least they only do this to me every few months. they've never done the anal gland thing...i don't even wanna know what that is! i heard that those white house people want a BIG dog so a cairn is out. i don't get it tho - we are HUGE - why can't they tell?!? ARF! currey PS i had a great round of RUNNINGAROUNDBARKINGMYFOOLHEADOFF today!!! i even left out some good howls mixed in ther! the uprights tried to figure out what i was looking at out the window but i made sure they couldn't figure it out at all...MWAH HA HA HA! savannahsmom35
Hi Eli! So let me tell you something fun to do when the Alpha's start digging. If you go stand RIGHT NEXT to where they are digging, SOMETIMES, a slimy worm will pop out and you can POUNCE on it!!!! Then you can dig and try to find it again! It is like hide and seek! It is good times!!! Sadly, it has been raining for like 2 weeks at my house and I haven't been able to go out and play with the worms too much. I have been all couped up in the house and i have SOOO much energy! Just wait til the sun comes back out! Those worms won't know what hit them! I do understand your frustration with the alpha's. We spend so much time and effort trying to train them but they are SOOO hardheaded! It takes a special pup to own and love an alpha. But mine gives me yummy food and belly rubs so I keep trying. Sigh... Smooches, Savannah We give dogs time we can spare, space we can spare and love we can spare. And in return, dogs give us their all. It's the best deal man has ever made. -M.
