RockyCairn
Yesterday, we went to the breeder and picked up Hamlet. It was a long day for the little fella, but he did really well. He did not get carsick during the 4 hour ride. He did pee a couple times in the crate, but we expected that and had a puppy pad down. He did a lot of exploring last night with the little sniffer going everywhere we let him. I went to be last night at 11:00 and put Hamlet in his crate right beside me on the floor. He did not whine at all when we went to bed. I made sure he could see me from his crate and it must have worked. i fully expected to be up at 3:00 to take him out. I had a very peasant surprise because he let me sleep until 5:00. Yesterday was really tiring for him, so we will see how it goes tonight. I have managed to get him outside for every poop so far. I think this is more good luck that good management. He has only peed outside twice. However, he has managed three times in the house. LOL, he just stops and goes. The little fella sure decides quickly when he has to pee. I will be using more crate management for this part of the training. He is only 8 weeks old, so I do not expect overnight miracles. He is definitely a little treasure. Here are a couple pictures. I hope to get a side shot or two tomorrow. He has those nice stubby legs and big front paws. He was not very co operative today. Just too busy.
rileyboy
Isn't it fun? They do stop and pee so quickly and they give no signals such as circling or anything! I love your pictures. He is certainly a darling. Love him alot while he is little because I got Riley at a few days past 8 weeks and he was about 3 pounds. I have had him a couple months now and I know he has got to be about 8-10 pounds already and he is not at all fat. He just keeps growing!

RockyCairn
sheila, no offense at all. During the name decision, all I could think of was Hammie when I decided the Hamlet. As a terrier, I know he will fit the description. Vivian - I like the folded ears. I did not know if they would still be folded or not before I got him. They really add to the puppy look. Here are a couple more pictures. He was settling in on the couch beside me, just before he fell asleep.
RockyCairn
I guess my pictures are just a little too big (I can only get two per reply). Here he is after he went to sleep. Ah, peace at last. We have had a good day today. He did not get me up until 7:00 am. I could not believe it. I was hoping to use him as my alarm clock when I go to work tomorrow. We went to bed at 11:30 last night. We only had one accident in the house today. Over the next week, we will probably settle into a routine that will be easier for him. I work days and my wife, Sue, works part time nights as a nurse. We were lucky to time Hamlet's arrival home because Sue is off all this coming week. This ensures that we will be home every day during his first week with us. More to come as time goes on. Ward

COPioneer
Aww, Hamlet's adorable! And I love the name! For some reason, I think Hamlet is a very Cairn-suitable name lol. It's excellant that Hamlet will have someone home with him all the time for his first week with you. I did that with Taylor as well and you wouldn't believe the difference it makes! I timed getting my baby right when I had a week off from classes and all that nonsense. It was great bonding time, and it helped him adjust to a new life much better I think. Keep us updated and have fun!
