crb636
G,Day all..... Being the "upright" responsible for the needs of 9 month old "Archie" I must relate this "Miracle"..... When walking Archie with either Collar or Harness, he has been impossible to contain... his strength is amazing... and after researching every possible method of restraint, this morning we went out & purchased a "Gentle Easy Walk" harness..... We went walking this afternoon - I cannot believe the change in his behavior.... He walked at our side, & the slightest pressure of this harness on his chest brought him to our side again - without fail.... The secret of this harness is the front of the chest lead connection point.... Do not confuse the "gentle easy Walk" with the "gentle leader" They are different ("gentle leader" is similar to a "Halti" lead) .....While not every type of restraint is suitable for all dogs (or uprights) I can not thank my trainer vet enough for the advice to look at this product --- its a winner with us .............. jimnconnie
The EASY WALK harness is what we have used for the last year with Bailey & Sophie, and I like it too. With the leash connection at the front of the chest, when the dog pulls he is turned to the side interupting his stride. Harnesses with the leash connection on the top of the dog actually encourage pulling. Sophie still exerts some pull on the leash, but she is much better than she was with only a collar. She just insists on being ahead of Bailey, who walks with the leash loose. Their ages probably have something to do with the difference in their behavior too. I think PetSmart carries them, and I would recommend buying from a store if possible, in case you had to return it for size problems. Bailey and Sophie both wear a small(Bailey is 17 lbs., Sophie 14 lbs.). It takes a little work to get the strap adjustments just right, but after that they are fine. jodi0553
Congrats on finding a solution! We have one as well from BeBop. Unfortunately, when it goes on, the dog ceases to move. When we first got it, we tried to condition him to it by just leaving it on and ignoring him. He has stood like this every time. After 10 mins or so he starts very slowly creeping across the room. He'll begin moving instantly upon removal of the harness. Its the weirdest thing I've ever seen. He MUST keep his belly arched at all times while it is on, even if the strap is not hooked, even if I just drape it over his neck in the same place that his collar rests. We now get it out only when he is fighting grooming. Just the sight of it makes him give in to nail clipping. He wore a traditional harness all the time when he was really little and never seemed to mind it...
josie&holly
I have an ordinary harness on Holly as she won't move if I put lead onto collar, but bought a Puppia one because they were supposed to be good.................. when I put it on her she stands exactly like the photo! Extraordinary................. and she won't move at all.............. or if she does it is a reluctant sideways step! www.cairnterriertalk.co.uk

Maybe they could work the grooming/nail-clipping angle into their advertising? Lots of people would buy a harness if they could get their dogs to sit still for a nail trim!!
