Posted July 22, 200816 yr Greetings all! Some of you may know me as the parent of Buzz Lightyear. Others may not know me at all. 9 months ago I moved from Boston with my wife and our 1 year old cairn to Los Angeles to continue my career as a filmmaker. In two weeks I will begin shooting a short film starring non other than Buzz Lightyear himself! The film is a 10 minute comedy about what happens when a prissy girl has to throw her image to the wind as she struggles to save the life of a small dog and thus salvage her chances with a guy. Basically the dog gets into the cabinet under the sink and ends up eating ant poison! (actually happened to us, but don't worry, no one will be harmed in the making of this film!) The girl saves the dog by bringing it to the vet, and she returns to her boyfriend's house to apologize. The boyfriend has no idea what she is talking about, and it turns out it isn't even his dog--Napoleon is a curious little terrier that belongs to the neighbor! A huge case of mistaken identity. The movie is a ton of fun, and has a great twist ending. And best of all--it stars a cairn! This is not some shot-with-your-video camera movie--it is all hired professionals, and we are shooting on good old celluloid film! You can all check out the movie online and follow along with the blog as we make it. This film will be a sort of "calling card" for me as a writer director and the rest of my production team as we try to get other jobs in the film industry, so needless to say we're making it the absolute best we can! Today we had our final casting session. We have real actors who have appeared on television and in other films participating--it is all very exciting! We will be shooting the film in two weeks, and we should have a final version in a couple months. Please check out the website and follow along with the blog. If you'd like to read the script or want to know more about the film, you can email me directly at [email protected] I hope this finds everyone and their dogs well and in great health and spirits!
