Posted June 18, 200817 yr Ive been on her for months with anticipation. Asking about grooming, fur color, and names but now she is finally here. My little annie! She is perfect in everyway...seriously. We are dumbfounded by how perfect she is. SHe is adorable first off her face makes everyone melt. She is so sweet following me around everywhere climbing on me and just falling asleep. Yapping and our westie and chasing him around. I love her already. She bad gas and diahrea anyone have any suggestions to why? Also is the puppy fuzz supposed to be really soft... she feels like a cat... is this a bad sign of a soft coat? Also does anyone have any predictions as to what you think her first full coat color will be judging from her puppy coat. She is eight weeks and the hair isnt coming out at all. I know all you all want are pictures. AND I HAVE PLENTY!!! HERES ANNIE!!! http://www.flickr.com/photos/27774642@N06/...57605677753695/ heres the whole gallery of the latest pics
June 18, 200817 yr How cute! Boy,I don't miss those puppy teeth anymore! Looks like a lot of wheaton color just waiting to happen on her, but it's very hard to tell what color they will be. What food did the breeder have her on and did you change it when you brought her home? Ours had soft fur at 8 weeks, not unusual I don't think. Miya Max
June 18, 200817 yr She sure looks like a sweetie. When you take her to the vet for her check-up ask about the tummy problems - she's had a BIG change in her life and oftentimes it can cause some transitory upsets. Feed her whatever food the breeder was feeding until she is settled. The puppy fuzz is weird stuff for sure, on all Cairns. You should start to be able to remove it in another 2-4 weeks - just tug on the ends of a hair and it will come out. What her colour will be at any age is a mystery - she's a brindle - she may go lighter, or darker - and that may continue at various ages.
June 18, 200817 yr Hi to Annie... I showed 9 week old Archie her picture & he is smitten - I cant believe how quickly these little dogs learn. He has been home for 4 days & he goes outside to the toilet, now running madly everywhere then collapsing for a well earned snooze - enjoy every moment. June 18, 200817 yr Chase and Gus say "Welcome"!!!! Her coloring... look at the parents... You must give some time to your fellow men. June 18, 200817 yr Boy oh boy she is soooo cute!!! These guys change colour so much, you just never know what you will get in the end! I love that fact about them! Toby is just 6 months old and his puppy coat is just coming out right now...I'm in the process of stripping him right now and it's coming out so easy! I tried before this and it was still just too tight. So just wait, it will come out in its own good time!
June 18, 200817 yr Aw! She's so cute! Oscar's coat was really soft when he was around that age too, and then once he reached 12 weeks it was easy to remove. Concerning your pups future coat color, I'd also take a look at her parents. CONGRATS and enjoy every minute! They really grow so quickly. P.S Oscar is sending Annie a good ol' lick WOOF! <3Oscar
June 18, 200817 yr Welcome Annie She is beautiful. Can remember when ours was that little. How precious they are and will always be to us. Don't know why she is having problems call the breeder they can be very helpful. Enjoy your new arrival. cairn terriers leave pawprints on our lives
June 18, 200817 yr Welcome, Annie! She's an awfully pretty little girl and you'll just love having her in your family. Jandy and my Cairns, Kirby & Phinney
June 19, 200817 yr She is one of the cutest puppies I have ever seen. Also you have a gorgeous Westie. I bet your house is fun!!!!!!!
June 19, 200817 yr Author thanks guys for the comments. I love her so much. Her and my westie are getting along great. They crack me up when they play. Do dogs have a puppy sense or should I be exgra cautious when they play. I am afraid the Sketch will hurt her. This phase is so hard cause you wander what she will look like as an adult but then you will miss her as a puppy.
June 19, 200817 yr Do dogs have a puppy sense or should I be exgra cautious when they play. I am gonna go with.....both. Some/most dogs do seem to instinctively know that a pup is small and change their behaviour to suit, but you just never know - and while Annie (GREAT name btw) is tiny, I'd be really cautious until you have the dynamic between your two sorted out. Also, big dogs don't know their own strength at times, or their body weight... Pups can be extremely annoying to older dogs and will try even the most patient dog....your westie may be great with this - or not. I sometimes miss Oscar's puppy phase but then I remember how long it took to house break him - and then I feel better Also they don't get any less cute when they get older! well ok maybe a really tiny bit but I still think there is no cuter dog!
June 19, 200817 yr She's a cutie. We are always envious when we see these new puppy pictures. It makes us want another one in the worst way. I love the one up one down ears. We got a lot of that with our first cairn but our Emmy had both ears up at 8 weeks so we missed that with her. We love the Westie too. Our Westie Mac was just a few day past 2 YO when we got Emmy. We couldn't have asked for a better boy when it came to playing with her. He is VERY vocal so it sounds like he is ripping her apart when they play but he was really ever so gentle with his mouth on her. We can't say the same for her to him however. The more noise he makes the crazier she gets. She has this little high pitched bark that makes her sound like a real dork. He did/does rough house her with the body some but she to loves it & keeps coming back for more & more & more & more...... Anyway I think you will be happy with the combination.
June 19, 200817 yr She is so beautiful! We got our Nicky at 8 weeks old. In 2001. Wow how time flys. This Forum was invaluable to me during his early years. Good Luk!! Posey
