Hello!

I am from the UK, so not sure if there is anyone else on here? There doesn't seem to be a UK forum so I thought I'd slip in here if you all don't mind?

This is P:

3/4 Cairn, 1/4 Shih Tzu although I think she has mainly taken after the Cairn! She is a year and a half now. :)

Out of interest, how does she compare to a full cairn? I think she is possibly a bit slighter?

And we are considering (at the early stages) breeding from her, once, is there any health problems cairns are prone to that we should test for?

PS> Not breeding for money, aware of pitfalls etc ;p

Welcome!

She does look more Cairn that Shih Tzu..very pretty girl. I don't know what her weight is...my smallest is about 13 pounds, and she seems to be on the petite side of the breed.

Don't know if anyone else on here is from the UK...but welcome!!

Thank you, we love her to pieces, she rats too, it is amazing to see that instinct, she's better than the cats! She also loves her poses but you may notice she is not wet despite being at the beach-swimming messes up her hair ;p

Welcome, she is adorable. I think she looks more like a Cairn too, her tail is definitely from the Shih Tzu though. She looks like she has quite the life! My Sadie is about 14 pounds and Scooter is about 19 pounds. Your dog looks about a good healthy weight. Cairns are prone to certain health concerns. Check out the Cairn Terrier Club of America website. I am not too knowledgeable about breeding so I can't offer much advice there but mixed breeds tend to have less genetic problems.

Yes there are people from the UK here, I am from New Hampshire, USA but my husband is from England. He has been here for about 8 years.

how beautiful. she certainly does look strongly cairn, but i imagine the shih-tzu bit adds sweetness and optimism, as well as perhaps a bit of patience.

She is trainable, not sure how loyal hehe, very optimistic and full of life and 'waggles'!! Real terrier attitude, thanks!
