jimnconnie
]Hi Julie, Some Cairns are bigger, some smaller. I've seen weights reported anywhere from 12 - 23lb. Apparently a Cairn is considered "matured" at about 2 yrs. old. I found info at this site: http://www.doggonegoodstuff.com/cairnterrierinfo.html Jim, Connie, Bailey & Sophie
bradl
The breed standard mentions that the description of the ideal Cairn is for a mature dog of two years. Weight and measurements are for mature dogs at two years of age. Older dogs may weigh slightly in excess and growing dogs may be under these weights and measurements. I'd say they typically reach their height and length by a year - sometimes 9 months. They then continue to 'body up' for a while: their chests drop, their heads broaden, and they add muscles.
