Gus is just shy of a year now but still takes afternoon naps with his pal Merlin.

The little Guster and his pal Merlin have grown closer as time has passed. You'd think with 4 other cats in the house Merlin would bond with a kitty pal and snub the rowdy little tail wagger, but not a chance. I saw these two completely sacked out with Merlins head laying on Guster, way too cute! When I grabbed the camera a little light go's on before the flash and little lights flip both of em out completely so they both woke up.

Truth be told I spend a lot of time by myself at home at home with these guys and on frequent occasions I'm in the nap picture with em. Gus has turned into a real snuggler and Merlin always was (at least with Gus and I). Sure a nice way to spend a couple hours on a winter afternoon with a kitty laying on your chest and your arm wrapped around a Cairn pup with his chin on your shoulder snoring. He's turned into quite a pal.

Gus has bus hair and his winter coat yet (it's close to time for his spring stripping) and Merlin has a serious case of the green eye but you get the idea.

Have you hugged your Cairn today?

Awww....thanks for sharing such a nice photo of your babies. Can't think of a better way to nap than with a Cairn (we don't have any cats) on your shoulder/neck snoring in your ear. Nice.

Nice picture! Scout and Finch will bathe in the sun with my DD's cat, but they certainly do not snuggle up to each other....lucky you!

Hey! We haven't heard from you in a long time! So nice to see a recent picture of little Gus with his kitty friend! Barney has not warmed up to our ktty much. He just wants to hump her and stand over her while she screeches and pops him on the nose with her paws! She is quite a drama queen and makes it sound 100x worse than what it really is!

I envy people who can leave their dogs in the house like you do. Barney would have eaten that plant next to the couch, and the pillow would have been inside out! I am anxiously waiting the day that he does not see every item in my home as something to seek and destroy!

Hugs to Guster!!

What a precious picture! My youngest Cairn, Hannah will nap w/ anyone. Her favorite is our Lab, but she also loves my dd's cat. Dd's cat, Granger will walk right up to Abbey & Hannah when they're sleeping and lay down right w/ them.

Hey! We haven't heard from you in a long time! So nice to see a recent picture of little Gus with his kitty friend!

Thanks for noticing our absence, we've missed you folks as well. It's a combination of normal outdoor Montana stuff and better living through medical science (Ha-Ha).

I'm so sorry your still experiencing the puppy "munching" phase. We've been so lucky or perhaps blessed in that to date we have had a total of 5 floor accidents and the only thing chewed was one wool glove that I'd left in the truck with Gus for 30 minutes or so while I went into the store. On reflection i realized the last time I'd worn those gloves was during hunting season and had been wearing them while loading an elk into the truck, clearly my fault.

Good luck with Barney. Gus got night privileges about two months ago and now has run of the house not that it seems to matter to him. Weird as this sounds Gus goes to bed with us and sleeps under my arm usually till I'm asleep, then goes to the foot of the bed with 3 or 4 of the cats (when animals come to our house they have truly won the house-pet lottery). When he does get down off the bed we usually find him in his crate sleeping with Merlin.

Rats! I can't see a picture...did you modify your append?

I'm afraid I don't have the computer savvy to know what that means but I will try to resize the picture down and post it with a couple others and try again.

My wife is convinced Gus has been hitting the peroxide at night while we aren't looking. Gonna be a blonde I think, at least for a while.

Montdoug, that was a truly "Montana" picture with Gus posing in front of the snow-covered (Rockies, right)?. I really enjoyed the beautiful setting -- and he is a very handsome young fellow! Do you have one of him with your grandkids? You said we might get to see them! :)

He is such a handsome guy! Your kitty is darling too. Gracie has the same coloring. We tease that she went to the salon and got highlights.

Nothing real recent on the pictures but it just so happens I do have one of Gus last summer trying to see if his tongue is as long as Dyllan's arms. Dyllan won but not by much. Gus is bigger now but so is Dyllan so we'll have to see who wins this year.

The mountains are the Bridgers and your right they are part of the Rockies. Yesterday our yard would have had three inches of fresh snow but the warm spring winds melt it in a hurry this time of year. Probably have several more snows before real spring comes but it's not too far off now. Gus loves the snow, he'd like it to snow all year.

Oh my goodness!!! That mountain picture is fantastic!!!! I am so jealous..... Illinois offers the breathtaking beauty of muddy corn and bean fields right now, with some dead chaff for color. Bleck....

Gus with those light streeks in his fur is amazing! Makes you wonder what color he will be down the road! Barney has gotten a lot of red in his coat, and the fur is really getting light blonde. Although he seems to be retaining the dark "points", as his muzzle, ears and tail tip are all very dark. And my daughter thinks it is so funny that his unmentionable areas are also dark!!

Great photos!!!! Thanks for passing them on! Glad to have you back on the board!

One last photo of Gus and Merlin, promise not to drive ya crazy with pictures every time I take one.

Today was rainy and cold, Gus and I spent some time afield and he was worn out when we returned home. I sat down at the back room computer and Gus assumed his normal position laying on my foot. After a bit I looked down and discovered Merlin had sneaked in quietly and snuggled up to his tired little buddy.

I've seen cats and dogs that got along before but this is a near mystical attraction. Sure neat to be a part of it.

Unlikelypals-3.jpg

Watching Merlin nudge Gus off his food dish has to be the most bizarre occurrence of all. He sure wouldn't let any of the other cats get away with that one, he is after all a Terrier.

Hooray! I finally got to see the pictures I've been not seeing at work.

I guess my company put a filter on pictures because of a problem with

band width. I'll just have to Cairn Talk more here at home.

Oh, and wonderful pix!

Doug,

Looking at Gus and Merlin in that last picture made me notice how their coloring is getting similar.
