fiddler927
I don't like that awful noise, and the flashes of light! I wish my Mommy would make it stop. I just don't understand how she can sleep through all that noise. I tried to wake her up by licking her nose, and I even whimpered to let her know how scared I was, but she just told me to go back to sleep after she rubbed my head! Daddy wasn't much help either. He made me go to my place at the foot of the bed. Don't they understand how scared I am, and how dangerous it is? kjwarnold
Packy says: Ellie, as I see it, it's our responsibility to wake our uprights when a storm approaches. We know when to do this as soon as it thunders BIG! You should wake up out of a dead sleep and bark loudly (you know how you can instantly spring from laying on your back to standing upright), so your uprights wake up quickly. This also applies to big winds and those bright flashes during the night. Once they're awake and thank me for alerting them, I know my job is done and I can go back to sleep (even if they can't). I don't know why they think they need that weather alert thing! Jandy and my Cairns, Kirby & Phinney
fiddler927
That's a good idea, Packy! I know I can always get Mommy's attention when I bark. The only thing is, I'm so scared by all the noise and flashes! But maybe next time I will just do that; if I make enough of a fuss, they will have to wake up! Ellie. savannahsmom35
Ellie, It is great fun to bark at the thunder! You really should try it. You RUNAROUNDALLCRAZYBARKINGYOURFOOLHEADOFF and your Mommy and Daddy will be very impressed with your bravery and guard dog skills. No need to be scared. I have been barking at it for 2 long years and it has yet to get the best of me. Thunder is afraid of barking so it will leave you and the uprights alone. fiddler927
But, Savannah, don't the uprights get upset with you when you do that? Ellie
savannahsmom35
Nah! They pretend to be upset but they are uprights. They don't understand that we are doing it to PROTECT them! It is for their own good. We give dogs time we can spare, space we can spare and love we can spare. And in return, dogs give us their all. It's the best deal man has ever made. -M. fiddler927
If only we could communicate THAT to them! They are so dense sometimes!
