Chloe is gone :(

Hi everyone,

:cry:I haven't been posting much here lately because my kids are constantly fighting me for the computer. As some of you know, I came to the difficult decision to put Chloe up for adoption because she doesn't get along with my other dogs. I've been in contact with Col. Potter's Cairn Terrier Rescue group and they have been wonderful. Today we surrendered her to one of their volunteers who will take her to her new foster home. She will be an only dog and I'm really hoping that she is treated like a princess.

It breaks my heart to give her up. She's a sweet, loving, affectionate dog and I've grown as attached to her as she was to me. I miss her, but I know it wasn't fair to my other three dogs to keep her here.

Please add Chloe to your prayers that she adapts quickly and is happy.

Aww Thela, I'm sorry it didn't work out w/ Chloe. It's always a hard decision to make when a rescue, or any dog doesn't work out w/ the other furbabies. Being a princess as an only Cairn might be just what she needs. Will you be able to get an update on how her new home is working out?

I'm so sorry to hear you had to give Chloe up. I just finished reading her Bio in dogster. I'm glad you did rescue her from the shelter and was able to care for until this time. Hopefully, she will get another good home to be loved and cared for.

There are just some pets that will not except other animals and need a home where they are the only one, like my Missy was.

Hold on too all the good memories.

Rhonda,Kramer & Angel Missy "Blessed is the person who has earned the love of an old dog". "It came to me that every time I lose a dog they take a piece of my heart with them. And every new dog who comes into my life gifts me with a piece of their heart. If I live long enough, all the components of my heart will be dog, and I will become as generous and loving as they are" Missy Rainbow Bridge Memorial

I just sent you a PM but want to say how bad I feel for you and know first hand how difficult the decision to rehome is. I guess we have to look at the big picture and let our mind overrule our hearts.

Chloe will find a wondeful home as will my Elliott and we will get over the pain/heartache because we are strong people, right?

I will keep you and Chloe in my thoughts...you did the right thing.

My heart can't take much more of this. I am SO very sorry that you had to re-home Chloe. I know that you tried everything in your power to make it work. I know that Chloe, as well as Elliott, will be just fine. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

I'm so sorry you had to rehome Chloe. Even though it's been years since I had to rehome my Cairn, I still remember the feeling. It's rough at first, but when Chloe find her new home, your memories will become postive. ((hugs))

I am sorry that you had to make such a difficult decision. I know how hard you struggled with it. I think you are doing right by Chloe finding an only dog home for her.

I am so sorry that it did not work out with Chloe. I hope she is able to find a great home. I foster for Col. Potter and they are simply wonderful when it comes to EVERYTHING about their dogs. I am sure something great will come along for her. In the mean time I know what a powerful loss this must be for you. Fuzzy hugs from our family to you!

Thanks, everyone. It's been lonely without her and her quirky, vocal personality. I miss that the most. I did hear from the intake person at Col. Potter who told me that Chloe's new foster mom was smitten with her. I never had a doubt about it. I've noticed a change in Tucker and Scruffy, too. Just this morning they were back to chasing eachother around the house. Chloe used to put a quick stop to that sort of shenanigans. So, I know in my heart that it was the right decision. It will just take a little bit to get over her loss.

I haven't been on in a while but wanted to offer my condolences. Just because you are doing the right thing doesn't mean that it is the easy thing to do. I will keep you and Chloe in my thoughts and prayers.

We give dogs time we can spare, space we can spare and love we can spare. And in return, dogs give us their all. It's the best deal man has ever made.
