Barney, A.K.A. Houdini!

Believe it or not, Barney managed to get out of his HARNESS!

I had him out on his long lead in the back yard. We have an unattached garage, and he walked through the open side door, then out the garage door, basically wrapping himself around the corner of the garage. I looked out the kitchen window to check on him and there lay the lead with the harness attached to the end, and out in the yard was Barney, throwing a plastic container he confiscated out of the garage up in the air and having a good old time!!!

The only way I can think of that he got out of his harness, was that he backed out of it. The body part of the harness must have slid over his front arms, then the front of the harness just came off over his head!

Thank goodness he stayed in the yard!!!!! If he would have taken off, he would have had no I.D. or anything. Another heart attack for me!!

I will now add to my list of names I should have given him! Rascal, puddles, and now Houdini!

Wow! (Seriously). Mr. B. Houdini is an escape artist. Don''t ya love those Cairns? My Pepper took off about 8:30 one night out a gate that was left unlocked, luckily with his collar on, about 3 years ago. I get a call from the police at 12:30 that night inquiring "if I had lost a little friend.":( The policewoman who called turned out to be a "Cairn person" and brought him home to me on her way home. I know Mr. Barney Houdini must be giving you fits, even though he is an adorable pooch. He would be giving ME fits.

I used to have a dog that did that. She would tangle herself and then get one leg loose...thats all it took. Glad it turned out ok

I love your Barney stories - sometimes I think it's the only comfort I have when mine act up and I think mine are the only creative terrors on the planet... I could see Hollie doing something like that - I have an angel and a devil - and Hollie is so alpha it's crazy! Cairns are just gifted like that :)

I know just how you felt.......A few months ago, hubby lost control of the the leash and Piper took off after a rabbit.

The next morning, I ordered an ID tag even though he is already chipped. Just an extra measure as some people are unaware of ID chips.

Glad he is home safe!!

Wow! I never heard of getting loose from a harness.... Kai-lee got loose from us while camping this weekend, DH thought she was with me I thought he had her...fortunately she was just snooping around our campsite, I don't think she knew she realized she was "free". Well one she noticed Keegan was in his x-pen outside our camper and I was messing with him of course she had to come and get between him and I, in the meantime I probably got a bunch more gray hairs and my heart got a bit weaker after skipping so many beats!

I'm glad Barney didn't take off on you. The harness I usually use on Hannah fastens both around the belly and neck. That way, if one comes undone, I still have her. I don't think she'd run, but why take a chance.

That's the amazing thing about Barney's escape! I had him in a harness that goes around his belly and neck, and I had it pretty snug too. Also, it is a really sturdy one with strong buckles and thick nylon material. I wish I had a video of how he got out of it, because I am still scratching my head on the whole thing! :(

There's some more grey hairs. :D

I'm so glad he chose to play in his own yard.
