We have brought home a 3 year 4 month female from NMDR yesterday.

Katie is not housebroken yet. We take her out every 2 hours and she gets restless if she needs to go. We give her chicken if she goes. Any helpful suggestions?

We have a silky terrier who is 11 years old, Banjo. Katie growls at him when he gets around my husband. I know these dogs can be dominating. I don’t know if this is from just getting use do him or the start of dominating behavior.

Thanks so much,

Sue

If you ask her if she needs to go out, even if nothing registers with her, you still need to take her out.  Eventually, it will connect. It will take some time for everyone to get on the same page.

I think she will be the alpha in this household.  Females rule…in dogdom:) These dogs are so smart, keep calm and carry on.

Hi!

Hope you don't mind but could you share with me how you got along with the housebreaking last year?

So I also brought home a pup two weeks ago. We are having a lot of trouble . I feel a bit discouraged but I guess it's early days I'm sure.

I take this guy out every half hour to an hour. He gets a treat for piddling outside and he looks forward to it, I see him looking up at me in anticipation.

But more often than not, he doesn't go..and holds it and pees 2 minutes later in the house.

How did you do with your girl? How long did it take?
