sanford
It was a dark and stormy night in Sharon, CT... We were returning from the market and as we loaded Ruffy into the car he suddenly bolted and ran off into the deep, dark woods flanking Lovers Lane. My heart was in my throat as we chased, and lost sight of him, heading toward a fast rushing stream at the bottom of a steep ravine. The search seemed futile... The few houses in the heavily wooded vicinity were all dark until I noticed one with a light on and we approached it with fading hope only to discover Ruffy in the middle of a circle of folks, who were laughing and having a wonderful time feeding him hot dogs and burgers from their late night cookout! They were disappointed that Ruffy couldn't stay, but out of gratitude, we returned to Lovers Lane the next day and gave them a gift certificate to the local liquor store. P. S. As proof that there really is such a place as Lovers Lane, see attached pic. (Disclaimer: This happened years ago, when Ruffy was 3. He eventually developed recall - when it suited him. Today, he stays close and his arthritis won't permit him to run off). . Edited May 16, 2021 by sanford 3 1 Quote FEAR THE CAIRN!
bradl
Love that story, and can easily imagine it —from the horror to the relief to the laughter. 1 Quote CAIRNTALK: Questions? Hillscreek
Ruffy knew how to follow his nose to where the good stuff was!! What's a cairn to do if you put everything out of reach?! Thankful for happy ending. Edited May 17, 2021 by Hillscreek forgot something
Sam I Am
Great catchy lead into Ruffy going AWOL ! Glad it turned out so well...my worst fear, a runaway Cairn.
