fergie
Hi everyone. My little guy Ferg is now 6months old and he is growing into a wild fun guy. His coat has come in quite nicely, except the hair on his head has remained soft? I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this....it doesn’t bother me, if anything it just gives him a little more chaos with long face hairs hanging around! I just have never seen a cairn with the same thing and was curious if anyone else had, and curious if he might eventually develop a wiry face.
Kathryn
Whether that face hair is coarse or soft, that is a lovely little face! Both of my cairns - one a breeder dog and one a rescue - seem to have softer hair on their faces. Softer anyway than along their back and bodies. Not sure what the breed expectation is, but I certainly like the fluff!
bradl
Ferg is a cutie! Breed standard acknowledges that head hair may be softer than the body. Quote Skull: Broad in proportion to the length with a decided stop and well furnished with hair on the top of the head, which may be somewhat softer than the body coat. 1 Quote CAIRNTALK: Questions?
