Hello all! Just wanted to say hello and introduce myself. I am a former cairn terrier owner (my boy JayTee passed away about 6 years ago at 15 years of age) who will be bringing home a new cairn boy in about 2 months. I'm so excited!  I've attached a picture of the two males in the litter.

Lucky you! you are cairn-experienced so we don't need to warn and encourage you. Enjoy the anticipation of your little boy. What a love time.

Thank you all for the warm welcome! It's both exciting and scary as I anticipate this little guy coming into my life. I remember what a handful my previous cairn was, but also how smart and an absolute sweetheart!

I'm excited for you!!!! How wonderful.  Sadly I lost my last baby girl last June. I am on a wait list for a baby Cairn. The house was just too quiet.......

You are so lucky! I am just beginning my journey in finding my Cairn puppy. My sweet puppy, Finch, passed away just a year ago and I am now ready to find a new feisty Cairn puppy to shower love on. Finch was 15 too. :)

Enjoy your new puppy, and I look forward to what you name him!

Eliz222,

Thank you and I'm sorry for your loss! They really do leave a big hole in our hearts and our homes when they pass on, don't they? I hope you find a puppy soon!

Congratulations! It'll be exciting to see how they both grow!

I haven't picked out a name yet. I've got a list started, but haven't been able to settle on one.

Hi!!!!! So our last two Cairns...were called Banjo (boy) and Dixie (girl) because my partner and I are musical and my husband plays Dixieland Jazz and also played the Banjo. So to us, those were the perfect names. Oh how I miss them.

Now this new little one...not so easy to name....but we have settled on either Benny or Finn, or Teddie.  One of our family members has a Cairn cross, he has an awesome name..."Mowgli" from the Junglebook, and it really suits him.

Good luck picking a name! Its hard. Have fun.

In the past I have named my dogs after favorite sports figures. (My oldest (human) son is even named after a character from my favorite book as a kid and my favorite basketball player) I'm leaning in the same direction this time, but I am also considering names from comic books or movies.  I'm a lifelong Buffalo Bills fan, so I'm leaning towards names like Kelly, Thurman, Diggs and Beasley (maybe my favorite right now).  Pedro Martinez is my favorite baseball player, so Marty is on the table, too.

There are a few more I've jotted down, too. It'll probably end up being a last minute decision, honestly. 🙄
